Being an early blogger i dont seem to have the drive to put things onto the paper. Its my first post. I desperately want to write something funny and insightful and delightfully readable, but I can't. Then i read a few other's blogs and i find the drive. But the drive isnt enough. Anything literary or for that matter anything creative needs motivation.. for soul (like energy!) can neither be created nor destroyed. Which makes me think… If a soul can neither be created nor destroyed it means that there are a finite number of souls in this world. So in a way we always borrow a part of a soul for a new creation. Nothing new will come to life till something else loses its…at least a part of it. Even a new thought will kill an old one in order to find its place in you. And if doesnt contradict something you thought of before it it simply replaces the thought where "you never thought of it" before. The population of the world has doubled in the past couple of centuries. So if the number of souls is the same then we are only a part of a soul. But who knows what a soul is anyway. Whether any such thing exists. I do though. It doesn’t have to be a ghost. A soul doesn’t even have to be a spirit. It might just be a thought. That makes me think again. How is it that I am writing about this. I certainly am not “intellectual” enough. If a soul is a thought then how is it that I have a new one? I think about it hard and realize I don’t. Its borrowed. Sub consciously though. From a conversation between two characters in a movie called Waking Life. So I haven’t created a soul but certainly borrowed a part of it. It was something created somewhere sometime by someone. But I have a part of it and if you have read this far then so do you.
"I keep thinking about something you said.
- Something I said? - Yeah.
About how you often feel like you're observing your life...
from the perspective of an old woman about to die.
- You remember that? - Yeah. I still feel that way sometimes.
Like I'm looking back on my life.
Like my waking life is her memories.
Exactly.
I heard that Tim Leary said as he was dying...
that he was looking forward to the moment...
when his body was dead, but his brain was still alive.
They say that there's still 6 to 8 minutes of brain activity after everything is shut down.
And a second of dream consciousness, right,
well, that's infinitely longer than a waking second.
- You know what I'm saying? - Oh, yeah, definitely.
For example, I wake up and it's 7 :12
and then I go back to sleep and I have those long, intricate,
beautiful dreams that seem to last for hours,
and then I wake up and it's... 7 : 13 .
Exactly. So then 6 to 8 minutes of brain activity,
I mean, that could be your whole life.
I mean, you are that woman looking back over everything.
Okay, so what if I am? Then what would you be in all that?
Whatever I am right now.
I mean, yeah, maybe I only exist in your mind.
I'm still just as real as anything else.
Yeah.
- I've been thinking also about something you said. - What's that?
Just about reincarnation and where all the new souls come from over time.
Everybody always say that they've been the reincarnation...
of Cleopatra or Alexander the Great.
I always want to tell them they were probably some dumb f*** like everybody else.
I mean, it's impossible. Think about it.
The world population has doubled in the past years, right?
- So if you really believe in that ego thing of one eternal soul, - Mm-hmm.
then you only have a 1 % chance of your soul being over 100 .
And for it to be over 100 years old, then it's only one out of six.
So what are you saying then? Reincarnation doesn't exist...
or that we're all young souls like where half of us are first-round humans?
No, no. What I'm trying to say is that somehow I believe...
reincarnation is just a--
a poetic expression of what collective memory really is.
There was this article by this biochemist that I read not long ago,
and he was talking about how when a member of a species is born,
it has a billion years of memory to draw on.
And this is where we inherit our instincts.
I like that. It's like there's, um,
this whole telepathic thing going on that we’re all a part of,
whether we’re conscious of it or not.
That would explain why there's all these, you know,
seemingly spontaneous, worldwide, innovative leaps in science, in the arts.
You know, like the same results poppin' up everywhere independent of each other.
Some guy on a computer, he figures something out,
and then almost simultaneously, a bunch of other people all over the world...
- figure out the same thing. - Mm-hmm.
They did this study. They isolated a group of people over time,
and they monitored their abilities at crossword puzzles...
in relation to the general population.
And then they secretly gave them a day-old crossword,
one that had already been answered by thousands of other people.
Their scores went up dramatically, like percent.
So it's like once the answers are out there,
you know, people can pick up on 'em.
It's like we're all telepathically sharing our experiences "

Well its a nice post not only for a beginner but for somebody who says - "I am not being intellectual" as well. Can
you just strike out that particular phrase? Guess it would look better that way rather than just underestimating
your ability to write. Regarding the borrowing of souls I somehow find myself more willing to contradict it than
support it. Going by the theory that souls can neither be created nor destroyed and knowing the increasing rate of
human population one may argue that even though the human population has increased, there are many species that have
lost their count (almost all of them apart from Homo Sapiens, radiodurans and maybe even mosquitoes). While some
have been even endangered and extinct. So probably there has been a transfer of souls from other creatures to human
bodies since everybody has their instincts and ofcourse something like what you call a 'soul'.
To go along with that we might go into the theory of 'panspernia'(that seeds of life have been transferred to
the earth by some medium). There are currently 1.4 million discovered species on the earth and more are being
discovered each day. Maybe the transfer of new souls(probably of microscopic species) to the earth through
meteorites triggered this new discovery and pehaps these organisms cant survive the so called adverse conditions on
earth or be killed by the heat produced due to friction caused while the entry of meteorites to the earth. This
might lead to 'free souls' for acquisition to the human body. And you know how many meteors and meteorites reach the
earth's periphery everyday and perhaps thats where the new thoughts come from. And in our dreams we think of all
those exotic worlds and people which we wouldn't have come across otherwise maybe thats where they reach us.
On the other hand we know that technology is being upgraded constantly through which explorations and
discoveries are being made. For example everyday a significant no. of new species is being discovered in rain
forests of Africa. Under such technological developments there are many ifs and buts in the theory of panspernia and
thats why I used so many maybes and perhapses but please dont let that make you contradict it completely and think
of it as sheer stupidity. Regarding the originating of new thoughts maybe a reaction analogous to chemical reaction
takes place between old thoughts with the situations acting as a catalyst takes place and results into new thoughts.
And with a different catalyst(circumstances) different products (new thoughts) might be formed. This is in a sense
different from killing the reactants which can always be recovered back under different conditions. Think about it
that if you were not at the same place time and date while writing this post, would you have come up with exactly
the same words? For thoughts are only expressed through words or actions. Maybe if it was a second or even a
nanosecond later you might have come up with different ideas subconciously for different ideas seem better than one
another in different situations. The astrologers say that our lives are governed by the positions of stars and
planets. That seems likely since we might have had a different personality. Well you always borrow a part of your
personality by accepting thoughts of others and so borrow your 'souls' if you like to put this in that sense. And
yes coming of new things and destruction of old things is an ongoing process. But we will rather not say that and
just believe that it is only the transformation of old things into new ones like a flower blossoms to give a new
fragrance.
Your whole post is so well written that I cant stop myself from giving such a long reply to it. Please keep up
the good work.
PS : Any replies and disagreements are welcome since they are only a part of your souls and I would like the sharing
of souls for that matter.
